Friday 2 November 2012 Eugenio Barba received the title Doctor Honoris Causa of Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania - presented to him by Prof. Liviu Malita, Dean of the Faculty of Theatre and Television, University of Cluj-Napoca.

Eugenio Barba has been awarded honorary doctorates from the Universities of Aarhus, Ayacucho, Bologna, Havana, Warsaw, Plymouth, Hong Kong, Buenos Aires, Tallinn as well as the "Reconnaissance de mérite scientifique" from the University of Montreal and the Sonning Prize from the University of Copenhagen.
